Herbalife, the go-to name for health and wellness, just released its Asia Pacific “New Year, New Me” survey, and the results are serving serious inspiration: 76% of Filipino consumers believe a healthier diet is the key to unlocking better mental and physical health. Yup, Pinoys are officially ready to level up their well-being, one meal at a time.
Food = Self-Care, and We’re Here for It
The survey revealed that 82% of Filipinos plan to adopt healthier habits in 2025, with eating better as a major priority. Why? Because success isn’t about restrictions—it’s about feeling good. Pinoys define the glow-up as having more energy, sleeping better, and thriving overall.
And here’s where it gets exciting: 66% of Filipinos are set to make New Year’s resolutions, and “eating healthier” is tied as a top goal (57%), alongside exercising more (57%). Leading the list? Prioritizing self-care (60%). Clearly, Filipinos see food and health as part of a bigger picture: taking care of themselves inside and out.
Allan Domingo, General Manager of Herbalife Philippines, encourages starting small: “Filipinos are known for their determination and family-centered values, which are powerful motivators. Begin with simple, achievable changes—like choosing healthier meals or focusing on self-care—and turn those resolutions into habits that support a healthier, more fulfilling life.”
Holiday Food vs. Health Goals: The Year-End Struggle
Let’s be real—the holiday season can throw those good intentions off track:
- 60% of Filipinos admit they feel less healthy as the year wraps up.
- 53% say they use the holidays as an excuse to delay healthier eating (honestly, we’ve all been there).
And the food temptation? Unstoppable. 70% of respondents confessed to breaking their diets during the holidays, with festive treats getting the blame. Younger Filipinos (Gen Z) are leading the charge in hitting pause: 61% of Gen Z admit to postponing their healthy habits, compared to 47% of Gen X.
The reason? It’s all about gratitude and vibes:
- 53% said being surrounded by loved ones makes self-control harder.
- 36% admitted that as they get older, they’re more willing to let loose and enjoy the moment.
A Balanced Approach to Health
Filipinos are proving you can have it all—enjoy the holidays guilt-free while still prioritizing your health. Allan Domingo puts it perfectly:
“You can enjoy the holiday feasts while still keeping health in focus. Savor the treats, stay active, and make mindful choices. With a little planning, you can celebrate fully while maintaining those healthy habits.”
Survey Methodology
The survey was conducted by Talker Research on behalf of Herbalife. It involved 5,500 consumers across 11 Asia Pacific countries—Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. The online survey ran between October 25-29, 2024.
The Bottom Line?
Filipinos are ready to embrace healthier diets and habits in 2025. Whether it’s for more energy, better sleep, or an overall glow-up, it’s all about progress—not perfection. The best part? It starts with one small, consistent step at a time.
