Dream Big, Achieve Bigger: Let GPULP Scholarship Fuel Your College Journey

GPULP Scholarship

So, you’ve got big dreams and a bright future ahead, but there’s just one thing holding you back—funding your college education. Sound familiar? Well, if that’s the case, you’re in luck! The Gregorio P. Uy & Lee Peng Scholarship Foundation (or GPULP Scholarship Foundation for short) is on the lookout for a fresh batch of scholars, and it might just be your ticket to making those dreams come true.

Now, I know what you’re thinking—scholarships can be tricky to land. But here’s the good news: the GPULP Scholarship Foundation isn’t just any old scholarship program. This foundation has been a long-time champion of education, and they’re serious about supporting students like you, who have the potential to make a real difference in the world.

Why the GPULP Scholarship Foundation Is a Game-Changer

Let’s start with the basics. The GPULP Scholarship Foundation is committed to providing more than just financial support. They’re all about nurturing you as a whole person—mind, body, and soul. That means if you’re one of the lucky ones to get in, you’re not just getting money for tuition; you’re getting monthly allowances, plus all the support you need to thrive mentally, emotionally, socially, and even spiritually, right up until you graduate. Sounds pretty amazing, right?

But wait, there’s more! When it comes time to take your licensure exams, the foundation doesn’t just wish you luck and send you on your way. Nope—they’ll have your back by providing monetary grants for accommodation and other necessary fees during that crucial period. It’s like having a cheerleading squad, financial advisor, and life coach all rolled into one, ensuring that you cross that finish line with flying colors.

The Mission Behind the Magic

So, why does the GPULP Scholarship Foundation go to such great lengths for its scholars? It all ties back to their vision. According to the foundation’s Vice President, Michael Uy, “The GPULP Scholarship Foundation envisions a world where education is inclusive and accessible to all—regardless of economic circumstances—to ensure that no talent goes to waste and to leave a lasting positive impact on individuals, families, and communities.”

What a powerful mission, right? The foundation’s program, aptly named “LF: Scholar,” is all about breaking the cycle of economic hardship through education. It’s their way of saying, “Hey, don’t give up on your dreams. There’s always hope.”

Who’s Eligible?

Now that you’re intrigued, let’s talk about the nitty-gritty—who can actually apply for this incredible opportunity? If you’re an incoming second-year student at Isabela State University (ISU) or Philippine Normal University-Isabela, and you’re majoring in Engineering, Accounting and Business, Technology, or Education, you’re off to a good start.

But it doesn’t stop there. You also need to have a solid academic record with a minimum GPA of 85% or equivalent. Plus, the foundation is looking for students who are committed to their personal growth. That means you’ll need to be willing to attend values formation sessions that focus on holistic personal development. Think of it as an investment in becoming the best version of yourself.

How to Apply

Ready to take the plunge? Here’s what you’ll need: a Certification of Grades, a copy of your water and/or electricity bill (to prove your residence), a sketch of your home address, and a completed application form. Don’t worry; you can easily download the form from the GPULP Scholarship Foundation Facebook page. Once you’ve got everything together, just shoot it all over via email to gpulp.scholarshipfoundation@gmail.com. Simple as that!

If you want to get a little more personal with your application (and maybe get a few tips and tricks), you can join the scholarship caravan at the ISU Cauayan Campus on August 12, 2024. Or, if you’re more of a behind-the-scenes kind of person, feel free to reach out to your school coordinators for more details.

After all the applications have been reviewed, 18 students will be selected as the new batch of scholars. Mark your calendar because the big day—when the scholarships will be officially awarded—is on August 19, 2024.

A Legacy of Empowerment

What makes the GPULP Scholarship Foundation even more special is its rich history. It’s the corporate social responsibility arm of Century Ventures Diesel Parts and Supplies Corporation and Ford Tractor Philippines Inc., founded by brothers Gregorio Uy Jr. and Samuel Uy. The foundation was named after their parents, Gregorio P. Uy and Lee Peng, whose dedication to education inspired this life-changing initiative.

Since its humble beginnings in 2011, the foundation has grown from supporting just over 30 students to helping more than 140 scholars across different ISU campuses and even at Cagayan State University. And get this—89 of those scholars have already graduated, with every single one finding employment afterward. Talk about results!

But it doesn’t stop there. Scholars are encouraged to pay it forward by using their education to uplift their communities, creating a ripple effect of positivity that just keeps on going.
